Ocean Reef Homes and What Tends to Go Wrong
Living near the beach at Ocean Reef has an obvious upside and a less obvious one – everything exterior, from hot water units to taps and fittings, ages faster here than it does a few kilometres inland.
The salt does the work. Chrome pits, outdoor fittings corrode, and anything with a moving part that lives outdoors has a shorter life than the manual claims. It’s also why we push a bit harder on finish quality for coastal bathrooms – cheap fittings simply don’t last here.

Heat pump hot water is a genuine option and it deserves a straight assessment rather than a sales pitch. They’re efficient because they move heat rather than making it, and Perth’s climate suits them nicely.
The trade-offs are real though. They have a fan and a compressor, so yes, they do make noises – and where the unit goes matters if a neighbour’s bedroom window is close by. They also want airflow, so a tight enclosed spot is the wrong spot. We’ll look at where your current unit sits and tell you honestly whether a heat pump works there or whether the pipework needs to move.
